Sawmill Golf Course - Region 2 - Metro

Review Summary:  I am really torn on this course, it can be very fun and very challenging but it can also be a nightmare because of poor course conditions, radical bug issues and lost balls. I have played this course 4 times and my review is a summary of all 4. Bring bug spray and know how to use it!
Conditions:  The course seems to always be in bad shape, though improving. It started out as cow pasture and has morphed into something better, though it has a long way to go. Greens need the most work. Bring extra balla as the rough is rough and the woods are dense.
Scenery:  I like the views, and you have enough time to appreciate them as you shake your head when your balls fly into the woods or rough. Hole #5 is especially nice from the upper tee-box...
Layout: The layout is fine wit the exception of a few holes that just make no sense whatsover. Hole #7 is a long par 5 that you can only hit a iron off the tee with, or play a radical fade or a towering "risk it all" shot over the corner. Hole #12 is just plain horrible. From the back tees my only options are a punch shot with a long iron. Over hanging branches destroy any high launch angle shots. Plus the hole is short enough to reach in one but those limbs on the tee box ruin that also. Other than those two holes I like the layout.
Services: No issues, clubhouse is nice and the people are friendly.

Review Summary:  The worst I've ever played. I normally wouldn't complain unless the course was REALLY bad, and it was. This is the second time I've played it and it has been terrible both times.
Conditions:  Atrocious. Several greens were unplayable and the fairways were unkept. Every green had mower marks and the tee boxes were severely uneven.
Scenery:  Good scenery, if you looked away from the course.
Layout: Good layout. You need to play several different shots to make your way around this place. I only hit driver 6 times.
Services: Inexcusable. A playing partner purchased a beverage and then on the tee was accused by the pro shop of sneaking it on the course. They were going to call the police until the cart girl backed him up. No apology. Talk about a round killer...

Review Summary:  I was pleasantly surprised with this course.
Conditions:  I played in mid-June and the course was in very good shape. The fairways and greens were well kept. The rough was challenging and deep. My only complaint involved mosquitoes. Take your bug repellant if you are going to play.
Scenery:  The course is surrounded by woods.
Layout: Nice elevation changes and plenty of strategically placed bunkers that will get you into trouble. If you hit the ball into the trees you can forget it.
Services: Very friendly. I liked the grill that is centrally placed requiring you to walk by a few times smelling a variety of offerings.

Review Summary:  I have never played a worse course in my life. The greens were simply horrible! It was like putting on the moon (with the aerated moon craters)
and the desert (sand sprinkled all over the greens). There were greens
keepers on 3 different holes in front of us resetting the flag pin holes during our 4-some round. Not to mention some idiot following close behind us the whole time on some makeshift LOUD fertilizing machine which laid patches of foam all over the course.
Conditions:  Horse shi-
Scenery:  Lovely geese which I almost hit and stepped on there crap on a par 3
Layout: Terrible
Services: Of course, there wasn't any, unless you count us paying the cashier

Review Summary:  Overall great experience. Very friendly staff. They mentioned to me that some of the greens had experienced a harsh winter, so I knew what to expect. Overall great experience.
Conditions:  Some winter kill. I thought it would be worse. Like many courses last year, the winter was not nice. Other than the previously mentioned damage, great conditioned course.
Scenery:  Beautiful. No houses on the course, tucked back in the woods, no highway's or any other noise pollution.
Layout:  It's a fun track. Tests all aspects of your game.
Services: Very good, the gentleman at the counter was very informative. Saw the beverage cart once on each nine.
