| Review Summary:
Scenic, classic style golf course. Great price helps to offset the poor
layout. |
Conditions:
Average fairway conditions, inconsistent green
speeds. Mnay greens are 'hidden' and because of that receive little sun.
Those greens are extremely slow while the exposed greens are of decent
speed. Beware of this before putting.
The tee-boxes were in good shape and the rough was very playable. |
| Scenery:
The scenery was very good. No houses and
lots of wilderness to look at. Beats a city course hands down. |
Layout: This
is where this course loses me. Many poor-positioned trees. If you are 10
feet left or right of center fairway on many holes, you have no
reasonable shot at the green. There is even a hole or two where dead
center penalizes you.
Some will say this encourages 'shotmaking', that's nonsense. It
encourages you not to come back. Few golfers like to have nice, straight
drives go to waste.
If you like punching 5 irons under tree limbs to the green while you are
in the fairway, then this course if for you.
There are certain spots that are fair, needing a fade or draw to the
green. That's ok. But hitting slices and hooks to a green is not ok.
A few less trees and a few more bunkers would be nice. I remember one
fairway bunker. The course's defense is trees, trees, trees. |
| Services:
Here is where Hidden Greens excels. Great customer service. Very nice
people to go along with a very nice greens fee. |
