Review Summary: This Highlands course is nowhere near anything in the Brainerd area. We made a special trip to play here and was very disappointed. It has many holes that are target golf, and the first time you play here you have no idea. The dog leg holes are something to be desired. Do not drive more than 10 minutes to play here. Good course for someone that hits the ball 200 yards max. Scouted this course for bringing a group of 8 down from Manitoba. Not going to do it!! We have played dozens of courses in Minnesota over the lst 5 years and by far this was the most disappointing one.
Conditions: The conditions were by no means great on a scale of 1 to 10 I would put it at 5. Many tee boxes are shaded by the large trees and there is hardly no grass on them. Many of the greens have large areas that are just for looks. The slopes are much too steep for a pin placement, cutting lots of grass for nothing. Bunkers were terrible, no sand and the sand that they had was a clay mixture that would only allow a clean pick out of as they were hard and shallow.
Scenery: Bush, bush and more bush with hills.
Layout: Not planned well, tight narrow fairways that slope away to either side. You spend lots of time looking for balls in the rough even after you hit the middle of the fairway. Very poor design. Not sure of the other course, but there are far better courses closer to Minneapolis.
Services: Did not go inside as it was at the end of the day.

Review Summary: This 36 hole golf club was amazing. Great price, great service, great drinks and oh yeah GREAT GOLF. The group I played with was a foursome and we played the Highlands and had the time of our life. If you want a good golf course to go to for a very good price and have a good hard challenge this is the place.
Conditions: Conditions were very very good. We played late in the year and it was like playing the early in the year. Except the the storm that pushed through it was very nice.
Scenery: This golf course over looks the Red Wing area which is amazing, you have the old town along with the Mississippi River which looks beautiful. When you are on the back part of the course you are surrounded by lushes oaks.
Layout: Very nice layout you have nice hills which are very challenging and you also have long par 5s which have some nasty dog legs.
Services: Very very prompt service, nice and very kind and quick.

Review Summary: This is the most scenic course that I have played, bluff country is a great place to golf, as far as being fun and scenic. The course is well maintained; there is a good atmosphere around the course and the clubhouse.
Layout: I really like playing the course and love looking down at all the scenery and hitting the ball down to a green well below the tee box.
